Q: How Do I Use The Google Search Engine?

The Basics of the Google Search Engines

Doing a Google Search on the Internet is easy. Just simply type one or more search key terms (words or phrases that best describe the subject you wish to find) into the search box and hit the 'Enter' key or click on the Search button. The Search Engine then produces a results page: a list of web pages related to your searched key terms, with the most relevant of the pages popping up first, then the next, and so on.

Basics:

1) Capitalization: Most Searches are not case sensitive

2) Putting the word AND doesn't do anything for the Search Engine

3) The order in which you type your key words affects the Search.

4) Common Words: "where" and "how", are ignored as well as certain single digits and single letters, for this will slow down your search

5) If you must have a single letter or number or common word your must include a + in the search just make sure to include a space in between

6) Phrase Searches: Just add quotation marks to any particular phrase "know thyself"

7) Negative Terms: Some words mean the same thing, such as "Bow" Could be Bow Down or Like Bow of a ship. To solve this Problem simply put a - minus sign such as: Bow -ship.....now you will get no results for anything with a ship in it.

8) I'm Feeling Lucky....Takes you directly to the first website most relevant to that key term....

9) Remember there is so much information on the web so have fun with it

10) Last but not least be Creative.....Think Outside the Box!!!
